Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005
There are many tools available to teach you how to eat and live a healthy lifestyle. One of the most comprehensive tools available is the Dietary Guidelines for Americans , which is a collaborative effort between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture. The Dietary Guidelines provide recommendations for Americans two years of age and older about how good dietary choices can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. Because of its focus on health promotion and risk reduction, the Dietary Guidelines form the basis of federal food, nutrition education, and information programs.
